St. Joseph Academy, a hybrid, Catholic, classical school in Sioux Falls, SD, is seeking a
Montessori 3-6 Lead Guide for the 2025-2026 school year. Join a faculty of teachers and
parents on a mission to impart the love of truth, beauty, and goodness.

Ideal candidates:

• Certified 3-6 Montessori Guide (AMI).
• Are passionate about working with children ages 3-6 and supporting home-educating families.
• Implement the Montessori philosophy and curriculum tailored to the developmental needs of children ages 3-6.
• Create and maintain a beautifully prepared environment that fosters independence, self-discipline, and confidence in each child.
• Integrate outdoor experiences.
• Direct and collaborate with one assistant.
• Work between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, August through May, following an academic calendar.
• Collaborate and communicate with parents and faculty to support the holistic development of our littlest saints-in-training.
• Embrace our founding ethos of faithfulness to the Catholic Church and love of Jesus.

Part-time First Grade Teacher

Job Description

St. Joseph Academy, a hybrid Catholic classical school opening in Sioux Falls, SD, is
seeking part-time teachers for 1st grade for the 2026-2027 school year. Teachers will
have the joyful task of accompanying students in the pursuit of the good, true, and
beautiful across all studies. Qualified candidates will be able to guide students to
discover wisdom revealed across an integrated curriculum and throughout the history of
Western civilization. Teachers will serve as living witnesses of our beloved Catholic faith
and will work charitably with students, parents, and faculty.

Teachers will:

• Teach courses to a first grade classroom three days per week
• Communicate lessons to parents on homeschooling days two days per week
• Maintain a joyful and well ordered learning environment
• Attend daily Mass and adoration with students
• Help lead periodic nature study adventures
• Assist in assigned duties throughout the school day such as drop-off, pick-up, lunch and recess
• Attend faculty meetings, retreats, student conferences, and professional development as assigned

The ideal candidate will have:

• A deep commitment to our Catholic faith and our school's mission
• Experience working with elementary age students
• A Bachelor’s degree in a related field
• The ability to prepare lessons according to a classical pedagogy that inspire wonder and joy
• The desire to engage in ongoing learning and to share a vibrant educational life with a faculty of friends
